Save a .lhtp project or export an image — choosing the right format

Choose LHTSOFT Photo native project, PNG, JPEG, WebP or limited PSD output, with practical transparency, file size and backup guidance.

Saving an editable project and exporting a finished image solve different problems. A project preserves future editing; an image is a deliverable that works in most publishing tools. Plan to keep both.

What each format is for

Native .lhtp is the preferred working document when you need to re-edit layers, masks, text, shapes and supported adjustments. Keep it alongside the original photos rather than replacing those photos.

PNG is useful for transparent backgrounds, icons and screenshots with sharp edges; it generally produces larger files for photographic material. JPEG is broadly supported and compact for photos but does not preserve alpha transparency and recompresses each export. WebP can reduce size further when supported by the publishing platform.

PSD is for limited interoperability with Photoshop-style raster layers. It is not a fidelity guarantee for smart objects, complex effects or native adjustment layers, and may flatten unsupported content.

A reliable delivery checklist

  1. Save the .lhtp source project before final output.
  2. Choose output dimensions and a file type appropriate to the destination. Keep transparent designs in PNG or a compatible WebP workflow.
  3. Export and reopen the result outside the editor to catch clipped text, unexpected transparency or color shifts.
  4. Keep a local backup of the source image, project and delivered output. Do not rely solely on browser recovery.

Optional direct cloud copies

When configured, Cloud Save can send an explicitly chosen file from the browser to your own Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive account. LHTSOFT does not run an intermediate upload service for image pixels. Signing into a provider is optional and does not replace a local backup.

Because account authorization and browser storage can expire or be cleared, verify the provider's own file list before deleting your local copy.
